New Technologies and the ANSYS Technology Legacy
ANSYS Inc. has been acquiring technology and growing at a tremendous rate.
Recent ANSYS acquisitions include:
Harvard Thermal - The ICE family of products, Iceboard, Icechip, Icepack, Icemax. These products are focused on thermal management of printed circuit boards (PCB’s)
ICEM CFD - Advanced meshing modules- ANSYS AI*Env and ICEM CFD used extensively when a high quality mesh is required for a difficult geometry.
Century Dynamics - AUTODYN, explicit solver for short duration events, specifically explosion analysis. In addition, these other software products, ASAS, AQWA, are used for Eularien CFD analysis in marine environments.
Fluent - world class computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software used extensively in the chemical processing, oil and gas and biomedical industries.
CFX - world class computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software used extensively for the analysis of rotating equipment.

ANSYS/AUTODYN is a powerful explicit analysis package designed to model the non-linear dynamics of high speed events. The solvers are well suited for modeling solids, fluids, gases and the complex interaction between these phases. AUTODYN includes Lagrange, Euler, ALE, and SPH solvers and allows the use of any combination to best represent the physics of the model. Advanced material models can simulate non-linear effects including rate-dependent properties and a variety of failure models. All these features make the solver very versatile and highly suited to simulate events that may include non-linear materials, strong interaction between phases, large deformations/strains, and material failure/fragmentation. Typical applications include analysis of personal armour and armoured vehicles, effects of explosives on buildings, aircraft impact, decommissioning of large structures, and shielding against hyper-velocity particles for space applications.
